WE NEED HEALTH CARE REFORM!
A well dressed gentleman arose from a barber’s chair and asked the charge, holding out his bank debit card, and was told the deduction would be $5.00. From the adjoining chair, a scruffy yardman arose, and asked how much. He was told $15.00. Why not $5.00, he demanded. The barber explained that was the charge for those not having a debit card.

This seems horribly unfair, yet it is the situation existing in the United States medical profession’s two tiered pricing schedule. Those patients without the "debit card", or medical insurance, are typically charged more than three times the fee Insurance companies and Medicare use to compensate doctors for the same services. Is this fair? Don’t we desperately need National Health Insurance?

THEY ARE SAYING "HANDS-OFF MY HEALTH CARE!"

Almost eighty per cent of Americans have health insurance coverage, and more than half of them apparently feel no obligation to help those who don't. They listen to the rabid mob of nay sayers instigated and supported by those profiteers who want things to stay just as they are. You know who they represent, don't you? You might guess prosperous Insurance Companies and Pharmaceuticals plus the health care providers afraid of competition or fair play. Truth be told, those smug insured citizens who want to keep the status quo, have much to fear with our present health care, should they suffer a major illness. That realization will likely be too late!

We have but a few monopolistic health insurers and they write their own rules, and their coverage is subject to selfish interpetation of their contracts. About half of the people forced into bankruptcy by a catastrophic, poorly insured illness had health insurance, and felt adequately covered. WRONG! Think about it. Is everything alright with our present health care policy, or do we need Obama's public option? Would we benefit from competition between those money obsessed providers and a nationalized option? G. HELLO! My name is Gerald Bosacker, and I am a MOVE ON member from Paragould Arkansas. I am excited to see all of you here today! This is and important moment for the future of our democracy.

President Obama has been steadfast in his support of a public health insurance option and the senate HELP committee, along with several committees in the house of Representatives, released a bill including a public plan. A strong public health insurance plan will cut outrageous health care costs and is critical for solving our nation’s health care crisis, and aiding families and small businesses struggling in our current distressed economy. The public health insurance option will give all Americans a better range of choice, make the health care market more competitive, and keep pharmaceutical and insurance companies more honest. The option will also guarantee all Americans access to quality health care.

We are gathered to collect and deliver a petition to Senator Blanche Lincoln, and call on her to fight for President Obama’s health care plan with a strong public health insurance option. Our petition reads:

I strongly believe that Americans should have the choice of a public health insurance option operating alongside private plans. This will give all Americans a better range of choices, make the health care market more competitive, and keep insurance companies honest.

We ask all of you to sign this petition. Seek out the clipboard carriers with their green scarfs, and speak for the seventy percent of Americans who favor Obama’s health care plan. While you are signing, our petition to Senator Lincoln, I will introduce those among you who wish to speak on how they have been adversely affected by the present health care crisis.
